Climate Change & adoptation

Climate change refers to the long-term alteration of temperature and typical weather patterns in a place. This change can have significant impacts on the natural environment, as well as on human societies and economies.

Adaptation to climate change involves adjusting to its effects in order to minimize negative consequences and take advantage of any positive impacts. This can include changes to infrastructure, agriculture and water management practices, and other measures designed to increase resilience to extreme weather events, sea level rise, and other effects of climate change.

Nature Based Solution

Nature-based solutions (NBS) refer to actions that work with or mimic natural processes to address societal challenges, including those related to climate change, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity. These solutions are often low-cost, scalable, and offer multiple benefits for both the environment and society.

Nature-based solutions can also provide social and economic benefits, such as supporting livelihoods through sustainable agriculture and ecotourism, and improving the well-being of communities through access to green spaces and clean water.

Climate Mitigation

Climate mitigation refers to the efforts to reduce or prevent greenhouse gas emissions in order to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

One of the most effective ways to mitigate climate change is to reduce the use of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which are the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. This can be achieved through the adoption of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, as well as increased energy efficiency in buildings, transportation, and industry.

Loss and Damage

Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) refers to efforts to reduce the damage and losses caused by natural or human-made disasters through preventive measures, preparedness, and effective response and recovery. DRR aims to build resilience and reduce vulnerability of communities, infrastructures, and ecosystems to disasters.

DRR plays a crucial role in building resilience and reducing the impact of disasters on communities and ecosystems. By adopting a proactive and holistic approach, DRR can help to reduce losses and protect lives, livelihoods, and the environment.
